United States: MPs disapprove new proposal

Brasilia - The House of Representatives of the United States(MPs) rejected the proposal on Saturday 30 to increase thecountry's debt ceiling to more than 2.5 trillion dollars - and thatpromotes budget cuts of 2.2 trillion dollars. Currently, the debtceiling is 14.3 trillion dollars (about 22.2 trillion dollars).
The proposal, the senator and Democratic leader Harry Reid, was rejected by 246 votes to 173. On Friday 29, the SenateDemocratic majority (allies of President Barack Obama), had rejected the project leader of the Republicans,Representative John Boehner, which provided for raising thedebt ceiling to U.S. $ 900 billion, This would allow payment ofdebts for a few more months, and budget cuts estimated at917 billion dollars and constitutional changes to try to balance the budget
