Government of Algeria confirms that Gaddafi and his family are sheltered in the country

The foreign minister of Algeria, Mourad Medelci, confirmed on Monday (29) that the dictator of Libya, Muammar Gaddafi, is housed in the country with his wife and threechildren. The information was released by the U.S. network CNN.

According Medelci, Gaddafi is in the country with his first wife, Aisha, and Anibalsons, Mohammed and Aisha, all accompanied by their families also.

According to a statement taken by the Algerian official news agency "APS", the familyentered the Libyan leader deposed on Monday in the country, SD at 8:45 am local time (of 4:45 a.m. Eastern Time) through the land border between Libya and Algeria.

Algeria is the only one of the neighbors of Libya in North Africa that have notrecognized the National Transitional Council (CNT), the effective government of Libyaafter the overthrow of the regime.

Gaddafi's whereabouts were unknown since last week when the rebels advanced on the capital Tripoli and stormed the headquarters of the dictator in Bab al-Aziziya, where is located a series of fortified buildings in the Libyan government.
